Internet Strategy & Communications for Cause-Driven Organizations

Serving clients ranging from community‐based organizations and local political campaigns to statewide philanthropies, I provide technology strategy and development services for online communications and constituent engagement.

For over sixteen years I have helped nonprofit organizations harness the power of the web, email, and social media to inform, engage, and grow their constituency. Paid and pro bono clients include Will Brownsberger for State Senate, Connecticut Health Foundation, Yes for Arlington, Housing Corporation of Arlington, Endowment for Health, Chamber Orchestra of Boston, and the Partnership at DrugFree.org.

Strategic Consulting Engagements
I am available to help your organization be more effective in using web, email, and social media technologies to further its mission. My entire career has been in the nonprofit sector, including the past sixteen years specifically helping nonprofits and educational organizations understand their technology choices and make informed decisions. My full-time jobs have required me to bridge the worlds of nonprofit program management and technology, and I have built and managed diverse teams of website designers, programmers, IT managers, editors, writers, and end-user support staff.

As an independent consultant, I am able to offer reasonable consulting rates, and many organizations find that an up-front investment in strategic and process consulting pays dividends in making better decisions about web development vendors, technology, and content.

Services include:

  • Needs assessment, analysis and recommendations for website development or redesign.

  • Key audience analysis, including user surveys and focus groups.

  • Preparing a successful RFP for web development vendors who will actually design and build out your website.

  • Developing or redeveloping your website's information architecture (organization and navigation).

  • Vendor research and vendor selection process.

  • E-mail newsletter setup, list management, and marketing/outreach strategy.

  • Blog and social media strategies for engaging consituents.

  • Personally developing small-scale websites built on open source or free CMS platforms, including Wordpress, Google Sites, and Drupal.
